​In the late summer of 2018, a vehicle fire caused damage to a section of a precast double-tee section in the Village of Palatine parking garage. Temporary shoring was installed while further engineering and testing was performed to determine how deep the intense heat from the fire was able to penetrate into the concrete structure. It was determined that the fire caused significant damage to the reinforcement steel within the pre-cast concrete section. Engineers developed an external post-tensioning & encasement method to regain the loss in strength and load capacity of the (2) tee stems. J. Gill was hired in Spring of 2019 to perform these repairs.
